In recent flooding events, the COB sent a letter to all of the apartment complexes on Northwood Drive. This letter is adding pressure to all of the complexes to come up with a solution and fix the drainage issue. City Council Member, Laura Alvarado of District 1 said in a statement; "with the ongoing issues of flooding on Northwood, the COB investigated the area and found that all the issues are on the apartment side. We have plans on revisiting the area in the near future, and do follow-ups until the matter is solved."

The management of Avalon Bay Apartments said in a statement; "we have old pipes underground and if we have a leak, we will fix the problem." In recent events, some tenants complained about weekly problems with water shutoffs at Avalon Bay Apartments. The shutoffs last up to a couple of hours during the day on a weekly bases. Alvarado added, "we want to ensure the residents that something is being done now to prevent flooding in the area."
