On Wednesday, January 13th, at 6:36 p.m., Baytown Police responded to a shooting on  Richard Street, in the Pecan Grove Community. Upon arrival, officers found 28-year-old Marco Recio of Atascocita laying on the ground suffering from what appears to be multiple gunshot wounds. Mr. Recio succumbed to those injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Homicide Detectives responded to the scene and during the course of their investigation learned Mr. Recio was at a residence on Richard Street visiting a female acquaintance. While there, Mr. Recio encountered the 25-year-old ex-boyfriend of the female acquaintance. The two men got into a verbal altercation and at one point during that altercation, the suspect pulled a handgun and shot Mr. Recio.

After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene and shortly thereafter he contacted the Baytown  Police Department in an effort to turn himself in. The suspect arrived at the Baytown Police  Department a short time later and was taken into custody without incident.

While the suspect is in custody, Homicide Detectives continue to investigate in order to gather all the facts and evidence surrounding the Murder of Mr. Recio. Once all those facts are gathered the case will be presented to the Harris County District Attorney’s  Office to determine what charges the suspect will face. We hope to be able to provide an update on those charges and the identity of the suspect later today.
