Beard Charged with a 3rd degree felony for a Assault of a Police Officer

On January 27th at 5:47 p.m., officers responded to a report of a subject jumping in front of cars in the area of Racoon Drive and Savell Drive. Upon arrival in the area officers contacted the complainant who advised the suspect threw a knife, which also had a pair of brass knuckles attached to it, at his vehicle as he passed by the suspect who was on foot. The complainant’s window was down, which resulted in the knife striking the complainant, who was uninjured.  While on this call officers received another call of an intoxicated subject causing a disturbance in the 2900 block of Parklane. Officers then responded to that area where they located the suspect walking down the road. The intoxicated subject appeared to be the same suspect from the previous call. As officers made contact with the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Dylan Beard, they confirmed he was in-fact the same suspect from the previous call and appeared to be intoxicated therefore officers attempted to detain him, to which Beard refused to comply and cooperate with the officers instructions and instead immediately punched the officer in the face. The officer immediately took Beard to the ground where Beard continued to resist struggle with the officer until other officers arrived, at which time they were able to get Beard into custody. Beard was transported to the Baytown Jail where he was booked and charged with Assault of a Police Officer, a 3rd degree felony, through the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. The officer suffered minor scrapes during the altercation.
