Chenier in custody on a confirmed Harris County Felony Warrant

Robert Chenier was taken into custody on a confirmed Harris County Felony Warrant by the Baytown Hot-Spot Patrol in the parking lot of a self-service car wash in the 3600 block of West Baker Road. He is currently sitting on a 10,000.00 bond.

On May 14, 2015, in the 208th, in the 208th District Court of Harris County, he was convicted of a felony offense of Evading in a Motor Vehicle.

Just recently on October 17, 2019, Chenier assaulted a victim by punching, kicking, and choking. The victim was trying to call for help by pulling open two window blinds during the attack. Chenier fled the scene after the windows blind was open due to being seen.

According to court documents, the victim felt pain and discomfort from the choking and felt pain during the punching and kicking. The victim had minor bleeding inside the mouth. Two window blinds were pulled down. 

Right now Chenier is accused of a 3rd-degree felony. The personal bond was recommended and referred to Magistrate. 
 
The presumptive bail amount was $888,888.00. The District Attorney opposed the bond and lowered it to $30,000.00. The Public Defender requested the bond for $10,000.00.

Texas Penal Code Section 22.01(b)(2)(B) contains the enhancement for assault family violence by choking or impeding breathing. It increases the punishment of an assault family violence charge from a Class A Misdemeanor to a Third Degree Felony.
