Deputy Secretary Biegun’s Meeting with Japanese Secretary-General Shigeru Kitamura

On January 8, Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun met with the Japanese National Security Secretariat (NSS) Secretary-General Shigeru Kitamura in Washington, D.C.  Deputy Secretary Biegun and Secretary-General Kitamura discussed recent events in the Middle East and ongoing coordination on global security issues.  They also discussed U.S.-Japan coordination on security issues, including North Korea, and reaffirmed the strength of the U.S.-Japan Alliance.
