Deputy Uses Tourniquet and Training to Save Life

Dramatic bodycam footage released earlier today of Harris County deputy Landry applying tourniquets to the legs of two gunshot victims. On Dec. 30, 2019, Deputy D. Landry was among several deputies dispatched to a shooting at a home in the 14600 block of Waldine, where he applied tourniquets to the legs of two gunshot victims. One of the men had been shot through the femoral artery and it’s likely that Deputy Landry’s actions saved his life. The video will be used for training other deputies within the Sheriffs Department.

Every second count when waiting on EMS to arrive on location. Law Enforcement came from a military background or just from a college. When Law Enforcement officers came from the military, they might have some but limited training on basic but up to advance first aid skills, or enough to save someone's life before EMS arrives on location.
