While some of the CIU team was working with the DEA, the others were working with DPS. On January 16th, CIU and DPS teamed up to conduct a traffic stop on suspects believed to be involved in the sale of stolen firearms. The stop initiated on Beaumont Hwy. with the driver refusing to stop, leading units on a short pursuit. The suspect's vehicle became disabled and the front passenger immediately surrendered. The driver exited with a shotgun and fled on foot where he was quickly captured by K9 Lux. Clyde Perry was taken into custody for felony evading, possession of controlled substance and felon in possession of a firearm
