Politicians pushing to release suspects pretrial because of the constitutional presumption of innocence should be providing sufficient funding for more judges, courtrooms, prosecutors, and, public defenders. The right to a speedy trial is required under the 6th Amendment. After all, justice denied is justice delayed. Watch them & the lawyers from D.C. and NYC, they won’t support this, because their aim is to cuddle criminals instead of protecting victims, the community at large, and ultimately the rights of the accused. A defendant with serious charges hanging over them for years is harmed in terms of employability, etc., whether or not they are in custody. Often they can’t find or hold jobs.
