BAYTOWN - The Parks and Recreation Department is taking its show on the road and bringing an all new “Pop-Up-Park” to a park near you. The Pop-Up-Park program is supported by the “Be Well Baytown, an initiative of the MD Anderson Cancer Center sponsored by ExxonMobil. The monthly events are designed to bring neighbors together and to highlight the city’s smaller neighborhood parks.
The monthly event is planned on the first Sunday of each month from March through October from 2pm – 5pm. The event will bring Town Square events to neighborhood parks across the city. The complete schedule includes:
- March 1 – Carver Park
- April 5 – Britton Park
- May 3 – Baytown Soccer Park
- June 7 – Central Heights Park
- July 5 – Roseland Park
- August 2 – Bergeron Park
- September 6 – League of Women Voters Park
- October 4 – Tejas Park
Each event will be tailored to the host park, for example, the June, July and August parks all have spray parks, the Baytown Soccer Park will have activities centered around soccer.
The first event is planned for Carver Park, 802 Carver Street and will feature a concert from Raa-Raa and Da Zydeco Allstarz. There will also be a bounce house for youth and adults, basketball activities with prizes, hula hoops, sidewalk chalk and more!
The Department’s new mobile stage that was funded by Be Well Baytown will be unveiled at the Carver Park event.
