WASHINGTON, DC – House Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Greg Walden (R-OR) released the following statement upon the announcement of President Donald Trump's intent to nominate and appoint Mark Menezes to be the Deputy Secretary of Energy and Douglas Benevento to be Deputy Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency.
Mr. Walden on Mark Wesley Menezes of Virginia, to be the Deputy Secretary of Energy
"The 'best committee on the Hill' will now have two Louisianans and two former Energy and Commerce Committee alum at the top of the Department of Energy. That is welcome news in the Halls of Congress —Mark Menezes just testified before the Energy Subcommittee yesterday; he is well-known and respected as a proven professional. I know Mark’s knowledge of Congress and energy policy will continue to be an asset to the Trump administration and the American people as he steps up to serve in this new capacity. I look forward to seeing Mark swiftly confirmed by the senate," said Walden.
Mr. Walden on Douglas Benevento of Colorado, to be the Deputy Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency
“As a former state legislator, I always appreciate when our federal officials have a background in state policy. Douglas Benevento’s has held senior roles in Colorado--working on environmental and public health programs—and in the federal government; his diverse experience will be a strong asset to this committee, the EPA, and the Administration.
