At 3:37 this morning, the Baytown Fire Department was dispatched to the block of 1200 Northwood for an apartment fire. Units arrived in heavy smoke and fire and began offensively attacking the fire. Thankfully, all occupants were able to safely evacuate their homes due to working smoke detectors. During the course of the dynamic scene, 1 Baytown firefighter suffered from heat exhaustion and had to be transported to a local hospital for treatment, but is expected to make a full recovery and be released. Special thanks to our mutual aid that was provided by Crosby Fire Department and Mont Belvieu Fire Department to the scene, with Cloverleaf Fire Department by providing city protection from Station 1 to cover emergency calls. All units returned to service at 12:50. The cause is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshalls Office.
