City Council approved Change Order No. 4 for the Fire Training Facility Phase Three (PH3) project, with Comex Corporation

City Countil approves Change Order No. 4 to the Fire Training Facility Phase 3 Project (the "Project") with Comex Corporation in the amount of $40,593.00.


The City of Baytown (the "City") approved the contract with Comex Corporation for the construction of the Project on June 13, 2019.  The Project is on schedule, but certain critical items of work related to ensuring that the training facility meets industry standards must be addressed at this time.  Previous change orders related to this Project are as follows:
  • Change Order No. 1 was administratively approved, in the amount $13,559.49;
  • Change Order No. 2 was approved by the City Council in the amount of $173,480.03; and
  • Change Order No. 3 was approved administratively and was a deductive change order for ($49,361.51).
The items that are a part of Change Order No. 4, are as follows:
  1. The first item of work is for an increase of $36,417.00 to design and install irrigation, hydro mulch 2 acres, and labor to plant plantings provided by the City.  This enables the Project to meet the City’s landscape code requirements.
  2. The second item of work is for an increase in the amount of $1,176.00 for welding of the fire training structure ”fin fan” to the foundation at its final location to function as a training unit.
  3. The third item is an increase in the amount of $3,000.00 for steel erector mobilization to install handrails and grating added for fire fighter safety during training.
