Man Arrested on Charges of Attempted Murder, Assault in the First Degree

EUGENE, OR - At 12:23 a.m. today, August 10, Eugene Police received a report of a stabbing at 700 Hwy. 99N. EPD Patrol responded and took one person into custody at 12:28 a.m.  Eugene Police Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene for the investigation, along with EPD Forensic Evidence Unit. 

Israel Emmanuel Mercado, age 40, was transported to a local hospital for injuries he sustained and will be lodged at the Lane County Jail on charges of Attempted Murder and Assault in the First Degree. The victim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, but is currently in stable condition.
