Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 3710 Faulkner Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a woman at 3710 Faulkner Street about 5:55 p.m. on Saturday (Sept. 18).

The suspect, JD Doakes (b/m, 29), is charged with murder in the 351st State District Court. The victim is identified as Thuy-Hong Ngoc Vu, 33.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Montalvo and Detective E. Martinez reported:

Officers were dispatched to a shooting call at an apartment at the above address and found the victim deceased on the living room floor with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.  A pistol was located near her body.  The victim’s boyfriend, Doakes, remained on scene and initially claimed the shooting was accidental.  Pending further statements and evidence, Doakes was charged and booked into Harris County jail.

At this time, the department does not believe there is a continuous threat to the general public in regards to this incident.
