GALVESTON, TEXAS - Nightly work will begin at 18th and Broadway tonight and continue over the next four days as part of the 18th Street project.
The work will include the closure of the intersection at 18th and Broadway, and traffic traveling 18th Street will be re-routed with directional signs around 17th and 19th streets.
The work will occur Monday through Thursday of this week overnight from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Main Lane will be starting the night of Monday by installing the wellpoint dewatering system and then laying a 9x5 box culvert. On Monday overnight, there will be alternating closures of the north and south sides of Broadway at 18th Street, and traffic will be re-routed. Tomorrow night will be the north side of Broadway only, and traffic will be re-routed.
Work will take 4-5 nights. If the project is unfinished by Thursday, the work will pick up next Monday, October 4. Work is occurring overnight to avoid disruption to daily commuters. Each morning the road will be entirely open by 7 a.m. All work is weather permitting and could be delayed by rain.
While construction projects are a sign of progress, we know they also create inconveniences. Thank you for your patience.
