HOUSTON - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man found at 7510 Burgoyne Road about 10:30 p.m. on January 17, 2020.
The suspect, James Donte Handy (b/m, 36), is charged with capital murder in the 228th State District Court. Houston Police released a prior booking photo of Handy, from September 2017.
He is accused in the death of Hamza Manzoor, 26.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Daignault and Detective M. Arrington reported:
Friends of Mr. Manzoor went to visit him at his apartment at the above address. After knocking on the door and getting no response, they noticed the door was unlocked. The friends entered the apartment and found Manzoor unresponsive on the floor of his bedroom. HFD paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced Manzoor deceased.
There were indications that items in the apartment had been moved due to an unknown suspect(s) possibly searching for something. A preliminary investigation determined Manzoor had last spoken with someone about 6 p.m.
Further investigation identified Handy as the suspect in this case and, on Wenesday (October 6) he was charged for his role in this case.
The person is not in police custody,
