TCEQ held a public meeting

On Thursday, TCEQ, along with Texas State Senator Carol Alvarado that currently represents District 6, and other guest speakers, held a public hearing in Harris County Precinct 2.

The public hearing was about concrete batch facilities. The concrete batches produce a lot of dust and prevent individuals from spending time outside. There are currently six batch plants in Aldine.

A map was presented to the residents including the ones that live less than 200 ft. away from the proposed site. Tonight the TCEQ heard from the residents who will be affected.

TCEQ's public meeting re Nomadic Aggregates' concrete plant application in NE Houston: "Residents here want clean air to breathe and a safe environment to live in – these should not depend on your zip code."

Because of the large turnout, the applicant withdrew the application. No new batch plant in will happen in Aldine.

Carol Alvarado released a statement; "The #EastAldine community won 2night @TCEQ public mtg. I’ve attended many hearings since I was in college, advocating for clean air, a healthy environment & have NEVER EVER witnessed a company (Nomadic Aggregates) withdrawing their permit application on the spot! Thanks to all who came out to share their concerns. Appreciate teamwork @RepWalle & staff @AdrianGarciaHTX. @RepSylviaGarcia@RodneyEllis team on hand. Facilities like this don’t belong smack in the middle of a neighborhood, sharing a fence line with families. Really."
