Baytown City Council approves the purchase and installation of video surveillance system at Pirates Bay

Last Thursday, the City Council approves the purchase and installation of video surveillance system at Pirates by from Lighthouse Video Surveillance through the Houston – Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) in the amount of $107,000.00. The ITS Department surveyed both Pirates Bay Water Park and Calypso Cove with vendors and Parks staff, in order to identify the appropriate system and coverage of the parks, while also addressing the safety of both guest and aquatic staff. The new video surveillance system will replace an aging and inoperable video system at Pirates Bay with a state of the art system that will completely provide coverage to the park. Cameras will cover slide towers, rides, common areas, the ticket office, and concession stands. The system is expandable for future rides and attractions as needed. The project will include video storage capabilities at Pirates Bay. City of Baytown plans to budget for a similar system for Calypso Cove in the near future. The ITS will oversee the installation and construction of the new system. This project is expected to take 8 – 10 weeks to complete. The source of funds will come out of the Capital at the amount of $107,000.00
