City Council approved the payment of the TCEQ for the CoB four wastewater treatment plants

[BAYTOWN] On Monday, November 18, 2019, the city council approved the payment of the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ) fee for the City of Baytown's (the "City") four wastewater treatment plants in the amount of $166,587.34.

The water assessment fees fund a State program to assess the quality of the river basins of the State, which is in response to the Clean Water Act. Senate Bill 818 requires TCEQ to recover the reasonable cost of the assessment program from wastewater treatment permit holders and water rights holders. The City is required to pay the fees to retain wastewater discharge permits. The consolidated water quality fees are assessed annually on October 31st, in accordance with Title 30, Chapter 305, Subchapter M of the Texas Administrative Code, and are imposed on all entities holding a permit under Chapter 26 of the Texas Water Code. The fees are based on the daily average flow limits and permitted parameters specified in the permits.
