FARO 3D laser mapping system coming to Baytown

[BAYTOWN] On Monday, November 18, 2019, the city council authorized the sole source purchase of a FARO 3D laser mapping system from FARO Technologies Inc., in the amount of $95,640.87 for the Police Department.

The FARO system is a 3D laser mapping system to be used in the documentation of major crime scenes and motor vehicle accidents involving serious injury or death.  The system allows for the accurate collection of measurements, +/- 1mm, and scene documentation in 50% less time than other methods.  The Faro system creates a 3D map of the scene allowing for better case presentations in a court of law.   The FARO system will be purchased using $95,000 in budgeted funds from the Baytown Crime Control and Prevention District (CCPD) with the remaining funds coming from the Police Department FY 2019-20 budget.
