On Tuesday, November 19th at 7:42 a.m., Baytown Police responded to the 200 block of Alva Avenue, in regards to a disturbance involving a firearm. Upon arrival, officers located 35-year-old Jeffery Craft, who fled on foot after seeing the officers. The officers caught up with Craft and a struggle ensued for several minutes as they tried to place him in custody. A Baytown K9 Officer arrived on scene and deployed his police service dog because the firearm had not been retrieved. Craft was treated at the scene for the dog bite to his lower left leg and then transported to the Baytown Jail. The firearm was recovered and was found to be a toy gun. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and the charge of Evading was accepted.
