On January 22nd at 11:48 a.m., officers responded to a report of a forgery in progress at the Amegy Bank in the 1300 block of Rollingbrook. While enroute, offices were advised that the suspect was waiting inside the bank and provided a description of her. Upon arrival officers located the suspect, who was identified as 34-year-old Crystal Delancy of Baytown and detained her. Officers then contacted the complainant and learned that Crystal had attempted to pass a check in which the signature did not match the signature on file with the bank.
The owner of the check was contacted and advised he did not write the check nor did he know who Crystal was. During the investigation, Crystal was found to be in possession of a second check belonging to a second victim, which had not been cashed. That victim also denied knowing Crystal or giving her a check. Crystal claimed to have gotten the checks from another female, who she identified as Amy McLaughlin. Officers contacted Amy at her apartment to follow up on this claim, which she denied. However, it was found that Amy had outstanding local warrants and therefore, she too, was placed under arrest. Both females were transported to the Baytown Jail and booked. Amy was booked on her outstanding warrants and Crystal was charged with Forgery through the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
