On February 5th at 10:19 p.m., officers were patrolling the area of Roseland Park and found a vehicle parked in the back of the park, in violation of the park hours ordinance. Officers contacted the subjects in the vehicle and found it was occupied by three adults and an infant child. Officers also noticed the vehicle was filled with smoke and determined that the smoke was due to the fact the occupants of the vehicle were smoking marijuana. Officers conducted a computer check on the occupants and found that two of the occupants had outstanding local traffic warrants. These two subjects, 25-year-old Avion Scates and 25-year-old Eddie Edwards, both of Baytown, were taken into custody. A search of the vehicle resulted in officers locating approximately 100 grams of marijuana, 15 tables of Xanax and two pistols. Officers contacted the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and advised them of the case at which time they accepted an additional charge on Mr. Edwards for Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Both subjects were subsequently transported to the Baytown Jail and booked while the female adult and the infant were given a released and transported to their residence.
