MVA of a City of Baytown Fire Engine and a City of Baytown Dump Truck

On February 10th at 5:06 p.m., officers responded to a report of a major accident at the intersection of North State Highway 146 and Ferry Road involving a City of Baytown Fire Engine and a City of Baytown Dump Truck. The initial investigation indicates that the fire engine was traveling northbound on SH 146 when the dump truck, which was traveling west on Ferry Road, entered into the intersection of the northbound lanes of SH 146. In doing so the dump truck pulled out in front of the fire engine causing the fire engine to strike the dump truck. As a result of the impact, the 30-year-old driver of the dump truck was ejected from the dump truck and subsequently airlifted to Hermann Hospital to be treated for a head injury and at last, report was in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery. A 39-year-old Lieutenant of the Baytown Fire Department, who was a passenger in the fire engine, was transported to Clear Lake Regional to be treated for an ankle injury. Baytown Police Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and are currently working to reconstruct the accident to determine fault and/or what, if any, charges will be filed.
