Jahmala Lewis of Baytown charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm

 On May 8^th at 1:18 a.m., officers were patrolling in the 3700 block of West Baker Road when they observed a male walking down the road. As the male noticed the officer, who was in a marked patrol vehicle, the male took off running in a full sprint as if trying to avoid the officer. The officer observed the male run behind a business at the intersection of Village Lane and West Baker, only to emerge a short time later and approach the officers vehicle. The officer contacted the male, who was identified as 33 year old Jahmala Lewis of Baytown, and found him to be acting very erratic and overly stimulated. When the officer asked Lewis if he was okay, Lewis advised the officer he was having a bad reaction to narcotics he had ingested earlier in the evening. As officers continued their investigation into the Lewis’ suspicious behavior they found him to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana, and during a search of the area where Lewis had run officers also found a handgun with and extended magazine, which Lewis had discarded when he ran behind the building. Lewis was transported to the Baytown Jail where he was charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
