BPD Responded to a Reckless Driver that ended up in a Pursuit and BPD used a Taser


 On October 8th at 6:00 p.m., officers responded to a reckless driver call in the area of Highway 146 and FM 565 in which one of our off duty officers was nearly truck by the vehicle before the vehicle struck another vehicle and fled the scene of the crash. Responding officers located the suspect vehicle stopped at the red light at Highway 146 and Interstate 10, in the south bound lanes. As officers activated their emergency lights to initiate a stop on the vehicle it fled south on Highway 146, continuing to drive erratically, swerving back and forth in its lane of travel. The driver continued driving erratically, stopping and starting repeatedly and waving his hands in the air and at one point even throwing his cell phone out of the car. Officers continued to pursue the vehicle, which eventually came to a stop in the on FM 3360, where he continued his erratic behavior and at one point exited his vehicle, refusing to follow the commands of the officers and aggressively approached the officers. Officers were ultimately forced to deploy a Taser, which rendered the driver incapacitated and allowed the officers to take him into custody. Officer subsequently located what is believed to be Ecstasy on Mr. Hillman person and synthetic marijuana in the vehicle. The driver identified as 35 year old Corey Hillman of Port Arthur, was transported to the Baytown Jail where he was booked and charged with Felony Evading in  Motor Vehicle an Possession of a Controlled Substance through Chambers County.
