BPD saved a Baytown Man that was having a Medical Issue while Behind the Wheel

On November 19th ta 6:43 p.m., officers came upon a vehicle stopped at the red light at the intersection of Garth Road and Park Street. As the light turned green the vehicle failed to proceed, which prompted the officer to honk his horn to get the driver’s attention. The vehicle then proceeded through the light, bumping the curb multiple times, at which time officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, however the driver failed to pull over and instead proceeded to Highway 146, where it entered onto 146 and proceeded to travel north, refusing to pull over. As the vehicle approached FM 1405 it came to a stop due to the traffic congestion at the light. At this time officers were able to get the driver, a 64-year-old Baytown man, out of the vehicle and detained. As officers assessed the incident they determined it appeared to be a medical issue, therefore they contacted a family member to come pick up the driver and the vehicle. No charges filed.
