Developing Story: Wednesday Morning a Shooting Happened at Hartz Chicken

On December 30th at 10:56 a.m., Officers were dispatched to Hartz Chicken located in the 300 block of North Alexander in reference to a robbery that had just occurred. While en route officers were advised the employee had shot the suspect inside the restaurant. Upon officer arrival officers found the suspect, a 19-year-old black male, was suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck and although he was bleeding heavily, he was conscious and alert. During the course of the investigation, Detectives learned the suspect had entered the store, attempted to take money from the cashier at gunpoint when he was engaged by another restaurant employee, who was armed with a handgun.

That employee fired multiple rounds at the suspect, striking him at least once in the neck. Detectives also determined the suspect’s weapon was actually an airsoft handgun, however, it appeared identical to a real handgun. The suspect was subsequently airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital where at last report he was in stable condition and expected to survive. Charges of Aggravated Robbery are pending on the suspect through the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

Baytown Police has not released the name of the suspect as of yet. This is a developing story so check back for more details.
