TxDPS Action in Front of Baytown Ford

BAYTOWN - On December 22, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. on a quiet afternoon, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized a large synthetic marijuana cigar this afternoon during a Harris County traffic stop. The TxDPS unit on the scene called for backup but the nearest backup was 25-miles from the officer on the scene. TxDPS Unit requested the DPS dispatch to contact Baytown Police Department to assist the officer. A Baytown Police Unit responded and assist the TxDPS officer. There was also a request for a K-9 dog to help with the search of the suspect vehicle.

According to TxDPS, a statement said; "At approximately 2 p.m., a DPS Trooper stopped a 2012 red Fiat for a traffic violation on I-10 in the City of Baytown. After the Trooper interviewed the driver and passenger, a DPS canine alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle. A Baytown Police Officer assisted with the search of the vehicle, which led to officers locating synthetic marijuana in the passenger’s possession."

Horacio Estala, 29, of Manvel, was identified as the passenger and cited for a misdemeanor, and released from the scene.
