San Leon Huge Issue with Potholes

SAN LEON, TEXAS - As some of you might know the area of being full of potholes. On July 13, 2021, citizens in a private Facebook group that is designated for San Leon started to voice concerns about the ongoing problems with potholes along 517 and 12th Street. 

NNB News Michael Palmer contacted Galveston County Precinct 1 Commissioner Darrell Apffel office for a comment about the ongoing problems with the Potholes in San Leon. He said; "We have an awesome road and bridge department. We try and discover and fix every pothole without delay, of course, some may happen and not get noticed immediately which is unfortunate."

On Wednesday, Galveston County crews discovered the pothole(s) 12 ST north of Ave H and  FM 517 near the cooling canal to TXDOT in the LaMarque Area office. According to Lee Crowder, a manager with the Road Department for Galveston County said; that the potholes will be repaired on Wednesday morning.

The intersection of 517 1010 Avenue S
The intersection of West Bayshore Drive and Jackson Ave/Boulevard Street
18th Street and East Bayshore Drive
15th and East Bayshore Drive
12th and Ave D by the San Leon Fire Department
12th and Broadway

Potholes can puncture your tire or bend or crack your wheel. It can damage your tire's sidewall or belts. Even a minor impact may knock your vehicle out of alignment. A pothole strike can damage your shocks or struts, or harm your suspension. The hard angles of a pothole can also cause serious damage to your wheels.
"We have a 1.8 million road and bridge budget, about 1/4 is spent in precinct 1," said commissioner Darrell Apffel.
