(UPDATE #1) CenterPoint Substation Fire in Northwest Houston, Shelter In Place Issued

Houston Firefighters arrived   at 9:44 a.m. this morning, July 9, 2021 in the 2105 block of Brittmoore within six minutes and found a CenterPoint Energy Substation on fire. A defensive attack was requested and multiple units are on scene including HFD Hazmat and Rehab. Pearland, Community and Stafford are also assisting. 

Update: It has been determined that a transformer is on fire with class 4 mineral oil burning and is not a threat, however, a shelter in place is still in place for the area west of the substation to N. Eldridge Parkway. HFD is monitoring the air quality and currently deploying foam to control the fire
