Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man at 9000 Gessner Road about 4:45 p.m. on Saturday (February 22).
The suspect, David Smith -36, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 351st State District Court.
The victim, 36, was transported to an area hospital where he was treated for his wounds.

The victim and Smith got into a road rage incident while driving near the above address. Both men pulled into a parking lot at the above address and, during the argument, Smith shot the victim. He was transported to the hospital.
Officers arrived on scene and detained Smith for questioning. Smith admitted to shooting the victim and was subsequently arrested and charged for his role in this incident.

On Saturday, January 25, 2020, at approximately 11:00 p.m., an unknown male suspect fired multiple shots at a residence located in the 19400 block of the Plantation Cove Lane in Katy, Texas. During the incident, The victims were watching TV in their living room when bullets came through their downstairs windows. Prior to the shooting, the victim had a verbal altercation with their neighbor regarding loud parties and trash being left in their lawn. Video surveillance cameras captured a dark colored Toyota Tundra pull up to the neighbor’s house and briefly speak with the neighbor. As the suspect’s vehicle pulls away, it stops in front of the victim’s residence and fires several rounds from the driver side into the victim’s house. The suspect vehicle then fled the scene.

HCSO deputies and Houston Poice Department responded to the 20000 block of North Fwy in reference to an officer-involved shooting. A Precinct 4 deputy and an off-duty HPD Captain discharged their weapons striking a suspect, who is being transported to a hospital.
The suspect is currently in an unknown condition.

Investigation into Shooting Incident at 3502 Lydia Street
Houston police are investigating an incident in which armed suspects fired shots at HPD officers at 3502 Lydia Street about 11 p.m. on Tuesday (February 18).
The officers did not discharge their duty weapons and were not injured in the incident.

HPD tactical officers were in an unmarked vehicle and conducting surveillance in an area known for burglaries of motor vehicles. The officers began following possible suspects. Once the vehicles reached the convenience store parking lot at above address, unknown suspects fired shots at the officers' vehicle, but the officers were not struck.
Three adult males in the area were detained and are being questioned by investigators as to their involvement in the incident.
No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.

Channelview - Late Tuesday, Harris County Sheriff’s Office units have responded to a shooting at Miri Colima and Rio Torcido. HCSO found a victim shot multiple times. Deputies applied tourniquets and EMS transported in critical condition.

Suspect Charged and Wanted in Fatal Shooting at 2909 Hayes Road
Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of a woman that occurred at 2909 Hayes Road about 1:15 p.m. on January 4
Suspect Brandon Deonte Cooks (b/m, 26) is charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 232nd State District Court. A November 2019 booking photo of Cooks was released by HPD
One victim, Brian Spencer, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim, Tracy Spencer, 39, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Homicide Division Officers T. Jackson and J. Young reported:
Both victims were sitting in a parked vehicle in the apartment complex parking lot at the above address when they were approached by a black male suspect in his late teens to early 20s. The suspect, wearing a gray hoodie and red shorts, discharged a gun several times, striking both victims. The suspect then fled on foot through the apartment complex. Paramedics pronounced Mr. Spencer deceased at the scene and transported Ms. Tracy Spencer to the hospital.
Further investigation led to the identification of Cooks as the suspected shooter, and last Thursday (Feb. 13), he was charged in this case.

UPDATE: Person of Interest Wanted for Questioning in 2018 Shooting at 8900 Westheimer
Houston police are asking for the public's help
in locating a person of interest wanted for questioning in the shooting
of a man that occurred at 8900 Westheimer at about 11:05 p.m. on January
12, 2018.
The person of interest is identified as Dashaun Wallace. A Montgomery
County Sheriff's Office photo of Wallace, who is not charged in this
incident, is attached to this news release.
The victim, William Chavez, 22, suffered a gunshot wound to the arm and was transported to an area hospital.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M..Miller and Detective D. Stark reported:
Officers responded to a report of a shooting at the above address and
found Mr. Chavez suffering from a gunshot wound. Chavez stated that he
was approached by two unknown black male suspects, both approximately 5
feet 11 inches tall, one wearing a black hoodie and the other wearing a
red hoodie. He said the males began assaulting him and demanded his
wallet before shooting him once in the arm.
Further investigation identified Dashaun Wallace as a person of interest in this case.

Report of a school shooting in Houston - law enforcement at two high schools
HOUSTON - Earlier today at 9:45 am a call came in about a possible shooting at Madison High School. The call appears to have originated from the area of Westbury High School.
HPD officers are at both schools. According to HPD and "there is NO evidence of a shooting at either school."
An investigation is underway.

Dallas Man Who Threatened to Shoot up Daycare Charged with Gun Crime
A father who threatened to shoot up a Dallas daycare has been charged with a gun crime, announced U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Erin Nealy Cox.
Joshua Martinez, 28, was charged via criminal complaint with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
According to the complaint, Mr. Martinez – a felon convicted of robbery in 2010 – called his daughter’s mother on Feb. 6 and allegedly threatened to kill her. In a screenshot of the video call provided to law enforcement, Mr. Martinez could be seen brandishing a Glock handgun affixed to a laser/light apparatus.
The child’s mother told law enforcement Mr. Martinez had also allegedly threatened to shoot up his 4-year-old daughter’s daycare facility.
Following a high-speed chase through northwest Dallas, officers apprehended Mr. Martinez on a neighborhood side street. They then retraced the route the fleeing vehicle had traveled and found a Glock 22 – a weapon that matched the handgun in the screenshot of Mr. Martinez’s video call – on the roadway.
After waiving his Miranda rights, Mr. Martinez allegedly confessed to possessing the firearm, which had been reported stolen.
“This defendant allegedly threatened our city’s most precious, our most vulnerable,” said U.S. Attorney Nealy Cox. “A formerly convicted felon, he was not legally permitted to possess firearms. We’re thankful law enforcement was able to get this man and his gun off the streets before tragedy could strike.”
"The FBI-led Dallas Violent Gangs Safe Streets Task Force is a great example of how agencies working together can prevent violent crime in our communities," said FBI Dallas Special Agent in Charge Matthew J. DeSarno. “The task force is focused on finding ways to effectively prevent individuals from committing acts of violence. This includes using federal charges when convicted felons continue to possess weapons even though they are prohibited from doing so."
A criminal complaint is merely an allegation of criminal conduct, not evidence. The defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in federal prison.
The case was brought under Project Guardian, the Justice Department's signature initiative to reduce gun violence and enforce federal firearms laws.
It is also part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods Initiative, a program that surges federal and local law enforcement resources to communities’ most violent neighborhoods in order to root out offenders and built positive relationships with victims and witnesses.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Dallas Violent Gangs Safe Streets Task Force, the Dallas Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney P.J. Meitl is prosecuting the case.
Investigation into Shooting at 11800 Scott Street
Houston police are investigating the shooting of a man at 11800 Scott Street about 4:10 p.m. on Tuesday (February 11).
The victim, Deandre Marquis Gardley, 22, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

According to a witness, he and Mr. Gardley met with an unknown black male at a park at the above address after being contacted through social media regarding car parts. After getting the parts from the male, several family members of the male arrived at the park. Gardley and one of the male's brothers then got into a fight.
As Gardley and the brother fought, the male's father retrieved a gun from his vehicle, pointed it at Gardley and shot him in the abdomen. The male and his family members, including the father, drove away. As they were leaving the parking lot of the park, the father fired several additional shots but no one was struck. The witness transported Gardley to the hospital.

Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 7526 Martin Luther King Boulevard
| Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 7526 Martin Luther King Boulevard about 11:50 p.m. on Sunday (February 9). The suspect, Malcolm Isiah Posey (b/m, 21), is charged with capital murder, aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in the 230th State District Court. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Meek and Detective T. Andrade reported: Posey forced his way into an apartment at the above address where he shot the victim and took his car keys before forcibly taking his (Posey's) ex-girlfriend from the apartment. Posey fled the scene with his ex-girlfriend in the stolen vehicle. Paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. Approximately one hour later, HPD Southeast Patrol Division officers located Posey with the female victim in the 12700 block of Fuqua Street and arrested him without incident. The female was not injured. |

Julio Ventura Charged in Fatal Shooting at 12823 Colony Heath Lane
Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 12823 Colony Heath Lane about 3:30 a.m. on Sunday (February 9).
The suspect, Julio Ventura (H/m, 25 is charged with murder in the 179th State District Court.
The victim, Pedro Fraga, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Horn and Detective J. Escobar reported:
HPD patrol officers and Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to a shooting call at the above address. Upon arrival, they found Mr. Fraga had been shot multiple times. Paramedics attempted unsuccessfully to render aid and Fraga died at the scene.
A witness state the suspect, Ventura, had walked up to the driver's side of Fraga's vehicle and fired multiple times at him while he was seated inside. Ventura then fled the scene towards his residence several houses away.
Responding officers observed Ventura in the area and detained him. He was subsequently charged in this incident.
Gerald Washington Charged and currently WANTED in Shooting at 8210 Scott Street
Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the shooting of a man at 8210 Scott Street about 4:20 p.m. on Sunday (February 9).
The suspect, Gerald Washington (b/m, 26), is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 338th State District Court. He is accused in the shooting of Reginald Larry, 29, who was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives C. Sharp and J. Brown reported:
Mr. Larry was leaving a convenience store at the above address when Washington, driving a pickup truck, blocked him from entering the roadway. Washington then fired several shots at Larry, striking him. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported Larry to the hospital. Washington fled the scene in a red 2006 Dodge Durango pickup truck with Texas license plates LPF-8863.

Charges have been filed against three suspects arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 2800 Bammel Lane
Charges have been filed against three suspects arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 2800 Bammel Lane about 12:15 p.m. on November 13, 2018.
The suspects, Kendrick Johnson (b/m, 20), Dave'on Thomas (b/m, 18), and Keona Samireal Mouton (b/f, 17), are charged with murder in the 183rd State District Court. Booking photos of Johnson and Thomas are attached to this news release. Due to Mouton's age at the time of the incident, her booking is not releasable as a matter of Texas open records law.
The victim, Delindsey Dwayne Mack, 18, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and found Mr. Mack had been shot several times by an unknown suspect(s). He was transported by HFD paramedics to the hospital.
The suspect(s) fled in a small, dark gray, four-door car, possibly a NIssan Sentra or Versa with paper license plates and plastic covering the rear passenger side window.
Further investigation led to the identification of suspects Johnson, Thomas and Mouton and they were subsequently arrested and charged in this case.

Houston man convicted of capital murder in the shooting death of convenience store customer
A
Houston man was convicted of capital murder for his role in robbing and
shooting a customer at a south Houston convenience store during a 2015
robbery,
Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg announced Friday.
“When
someone uses a gun to try to rob and steal, they make a decision that
could end a life,” Ogg said. “That kind of callousness will be met with
serious
charges, passionate prosecutors and severe punishment.”
Eric Anderson, 27, was convicted Thursday after a week-long trial, and sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Ogg
noted the victim, Joe Hillsman, was a well-known customer at the Food
To Go store in the 2900 block of Almeda Genoa, where he was killed. He
stopped
by the store almost daily to buy lottery tickets.
“This
is horrific case of violence perpetrated on a man who was just trying
to go shopping at the neighborhood store he went to every day,” Ogg
said. “People
deserve to feel safe in their community.”
Hillsman,
37, was an employee of the City of Houston. He was on surveillance
video talking to the store clerk about 9:30 p.m. on December 15, 2015.
Video
shows two men walk in and charge Hillsman. One is in a ski mask and the
other, who was later identified as Anderson, is wearing a red shirt and
patterned
pants. Both had guns. Anderson can be seen pointing a 9mm handgun in
Hillsman’s face. The store clerk said Anderson shouted “Give it up!” and
began to fight with Hillsman. During the altercation, Hillsman was shot
in the side by the other man.
After
the surveillance video was broadcast on local news a day later, a
witness identified Anderson and called police. He was later arrested.
Investigators
are still collecting evidence to find and arrest the second man.
Assistant
District Attorney James O’Donnell, who prosecuted the case with ADA
Jason Sanchez, said it was unclear if Hillsman had been targeted because
he
was a frequent customer or if it was a random crime of opportunity.
“It
was a tragic circumstance and the whole thing happened in 12 seconds,”
O’Donnell said. “Joe’s legacy lives on with the love of his family. They
were
in the courtroom throughout the trial to see that justice was done.”
One Suspect Arrested, Two Others Sought in Shooting Incident at 10650 Northwest Freeway
Charges have been filed against one suspect arrested - while two other suspects are still being sought - in a shooting incident at 10650 Northwest Freeway (U.S. Highway 290) service road about 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday (Feb. 5).
The arrested suspect, Michael Landry (b/m, 22), is charged with attempted aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in the 179th State District Court.
A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper discharged a weapon during the incident.
HPD Special Investigations Unit Sergeant J. Hekimian and Officers I. Ulloa and J. Brown reported:
Officers were dispatched to a robbery call at the business at the above address and learned a DPS trooper was working an extra job at the business. Three black male suspects were observed exiting a black Toyota Corolla, which was left parked at the front of the business. The suspects were armed when they entered the business and attempted to commit an aggravated robbery. The trooper recognized the threat and feared for his life, the lives of the customers and employees in the store. At that time, the trooper discharged his duty weapon one time at the suspects, who then fled on foot in different directions. It is unknown if any of the suspects was struck.
One suspect (Landry) was later apprehended. He was not injured. The two other suspects remain at large.
As is customary when a law enforcement officer discharges a weapon in the city limits, the incident is being investigated by the HPD Homicide Division Special Investigations Unit. The DPS Texas Ranger Division and HPD Robbery Division are also assisting in the investigation.

An investigation underway into the shooting at 8900 South Braeswood Boulevard
Houston police are investigating the shooting of a man at 8900 South Braeswood Boulevard about 11 p.m. on Tuesday (February 4).
The victim, DeAndre Bains, 25, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers B. Salazar and A. Williams reported:
Mr. Bains and another male were sleeping in a vehicle in a business parking lot at the above address when a black vehicle of unknown make and model parked on a side street. An unknown suspect exited the black vehicle and fired multiple rounds into the vehicle where the two men were sleeping, striking Bains.
Paramedics transported Bains to the hospital, where doctors stated he is expected to survive. The other male who was not shot fled the scene on foot.
The suspect is described only as a male dressed in black clothing.

UPDATE: Suspect Charged, Wanted in Shooting at 6103 Glenmont Drive
Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the shooting of a man at 6103 Glenmont Drive about 10 p.m. on November 21, 2019.
The suspect, Sergio Lopez-Castaneda (H/m, 37), is charged with aggravated assault of a family member in the 184th State District Court. A 2016 booking photo of Lopez-Castaneda was released by HPD.
The victim, Rafael Sanchez, 39, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers A. Graf and V. Habukiha reported:
Mr. Sanchez was in a business parking lot at the above address with a group of unknown males. A verbal altercation began which led to Sanchez shoving a male suspect. The suspect drew a pistol from his waistband and shot Sanchez in the chest. The suspect then fled the scene in a black Nissan sedan. Paramedics transported Sanchez to the hospital.
The suspect was described only as a Hispanic male.
Further investigation led to the identity of Lopez-Castaneda as the suspect in this case and he was subsequently charged on January 24. Attempts to locate him since that time have been unsuccessful.

An investigation into Shooting at 1406 West Gulf Bank
Houston police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred at 1406 West Gulf Bank Road about 6:20 a.m. on Monday (February 3).
A male victim, 47, suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Officer S. Mohajer reported:
Officers responded to a report of a drive-by shooting at a convenience store at the above address. A male, 17, stated he had an altercation with a suspect who left and then returned with a second suspect driving a red pickup truck. The first suspect threatened the victim with a gun and as the victim began to flee on foot, one of the suspects shot at him multiple times. The victim was not struck.
During the shooting incident, one bullet struck a Metro bus stopped at a red light at the intersection of Gulf Bank and Veterans Memorial. A male, 47, was a passenger in the bus when the bullet struck the glass window next to him and caused him to sustain minor cuts from the shattered glass.

An investigation into Shooting Incident at 9000 South Dairy Ashford
Houston police are investigating the shooting of a man that occurred at 9000 South Dairy Ashford Road about 10 p.m. on Monday (February 3).
The victim, Johntavios Smith, 31, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives G. Black and A. Hernandez reported:
Mr. Smith was hanging out with other individuals at a convenience store at the above address when a dark-colored, 1998-2002 Chevrolet Tahoe pulled into the convenience store parking lot.
An unknown black male suspect got out of the SUV and spoke with Smith before both got into the Tahoe. A few minutes later, the suspect shot Smith before fleeing northbound on South Dairy Ashford.
Smith then ran into the convenience store parking lot where first aid was rendered and Houston Fire Department paramedics were called.
