New Equipment coming soon to the BPD after approval of city council

The city council is considering on Thursday, October the 23, 2018; the purchase of emergency equipment for the 2019 Police units from Fleet Safety Equipment Inc., through the Texas Government Purchasing Cooperative (BuyBoard), in the amount of $124,529.59. The emergency equipment will include light bars, prisoner partitions/seats, sirens speakers/control systems, emergency lighting, etc. and will be installed on the 2019 Police units to effectively equip the officers to perform their duties and to enhance service to the Baytown citizens. The emergency equipment will be installed on 18 new police units. Equipment for 14 units will be purchased using budgeted funds from the PD general fund budget, and equipment for 4 units will be purchased using budgeted funds from the Baytown Crime Control Prevention District (CCPD).

Also, the city council is considering the purchase of 9 Dodge vehicles from Dodge City of McKinney through the Texas Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (BuyBoard), in the amount of $215,442, which includes a $400 BuyBoard fee. The vehicles will be used as follows: 4 Dodge Chargers will be marked Patrol units, 3 Dodge Chargers will be unmarked units, 2 Dodge Ram 1500 Special Services Vehicles will be assigned to the Crime Prevention Unit and D.A.R.E. These vehicles are for the replacement of older units. All 9 vehicles are being purchased using the budgeted funds from the PD FY 2018-2019 budget.

Also, the city council is considering the purchase of, 12 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe Police Patrol Vehicles from Reliable Chevrolet through the Tarrant County Cooperative Agreement in the amount of $401,714.28. These are replacement patrol vehicles that will be outfitted with the appropriate emergency equipment and technology to effectively service the Baytown Citizens. 8 vehicles are being purchased using the budgeted funds from the PD FY 2018-2019 budget and 4 are being purchased using budgeted funds from the Baytown Crime Control and Prevention District.
