Two arrested and charged with Unlawfully carrying of a weapon

On April 30^th at 6:36 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle in the 400 block of South State Hwy 146. As officers approached the vehicle they noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, which was occupied by three males. One of the officers observed in plain view a large bag inside the vehicle that contained marijuana as well as a handgun. Officers then removed the occupants from the vehicle, and during a subsequent search found two handguns along with the marijuana. As a result two of the males,  22 year old Dwayne Battle of Highlands and 21 year old Khaliq Beauchamp of Baytown, were placed under arrest and transported to the Baytown Jail where they were both charged with Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon.

 (The 3^rd occupant was a 16 year old juvenile and he and the vehicle were released to a family member)
