Man Threatening to Jump off the Hartman Bridge

On June 1st at 2:21 a.m., officers responded to a report of a subject on the Hartman Bridge who appeared to be poised to jump. Officers arrived on scene to find a female and a male in an argument with the male threatening to jump while the female was standing between him and the railing. Concerned the male may in fact follow through with his threats to jump, the officer immediately yelled out to the male trying to convince him not to do it, to which the male responded by stating he was going to do it and went to the rail, placed one hand on the rail as if he was going to climb over it. The officer, now imminently concerned for the safety of the male, quickly reacted and drew her department issued Taser, deploying it at the male, which was successful in incapacitating the male, causing him to fall to the ground before he could get over the rail. The officer then was able to quickly secure the male in handcuffs and transport him to the Houston Methodist Memorial Hospital for evaluation.
