BPD officers observed a subject wanted on multiple felony warrants walking in the area of Illinois and Oklahoma

On December 9th at 3:45 p.m., officers observed a subject wanted on multiple felony warrants walking in the area of Illinois and Oklahoma Streets. As officers attempted to contact the subject, identified as 21 year old Juan Ramirez of Baytown, to take him into custody he fled on foot. As officers pursued Ramirez, one of the officers deployed his Taser, which was ineffective. As Ramirez continued to flee he was reaching into his waistband. One of the officers was able to take Ramirez to the ground at which time the officer noticed Ramirez had a handgun in his hand. The officer was able to successfully disarm Ramirez and after a short struggle take him into custody with the help of other officers who had arrived on the scene. Ramirez was ultimately transported to the Baytown Jail where he was booked on two outstanding felony warrants for Aggravated Robbery and Parole Violation. He was also charged with two additional charges of Felony Evading and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
