City Council APPROVES a contract for the demolition of a commercial structure located at 119 West Defee Street to Grant Mackay Company, Inc

 The city council awards a contract for the demolition of a commercial structure located at 119 West Defee Street, Baytown, Texas (the "structure") to Grant Mackay Company, Inc., in the amount of $87,354.75. The structure was found to have asbestos-containing material, the scope of work for this project will include the disposal of said asbestos in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, the demolition and removal of all debris to include the building, all attached appurtenances, pier and beam, concrete slab, and the paving in its entirety. The Planning and Development Services Department will oversee this project and ensure that its demolition is completed to staff specifications. Notice of an Invitation to Bid was sent to 32 potential vendors. A mandatory pre-bid meeting was held on September 18, 2020, with 18 potential vendors in attendance. On October 21, 2020, 10:00 A.M., bids were opened by the Purchasing Division who received a total of five (5) bids. The Grant Mackay Company was selected as the best value for the City. Grant Mackay Company, Inc., provides expertise and a large amount of available crew members to provide the City with quality workmanship in a timely manner.
