Baytown Fire Department Arson Investigators investigating a garage fire after a disturbance

BAYTOWN - On May 13th at 11:20 p.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in the 2500 block of Ward Road, possibly with a pair of scissors involved. Upon arrival, officers found a car in the driveway and a fire burning inside the garage. Officers summoned the Baytown Fire Department to address the fire and at the same time noticed a female walking from the 2700 block of Ward Road, scantily dressed and shouting obscenities at the officers.  as the female approached the officers they began giving her instruction, unsure if she had the scissors, which she failed to follow. Officers deployed their department issue Pepper Spray at the female, which allowed officers to be able to detain her. Now, as officers turned their attention back to the residence and the fire, a male approached from the same is the female had come from, who was also detained as officers continued to investigate. Officers then cleared the residence to ensure there was no one else inside as they awaited Baytown Fire to arrive and extinguish the fire, which was confined to the laundry room in the garage, and noticed broken glass inside the residence.  Both subjects acknowledged that they had an argument inside the residence and the female had damaged the inside of the residence and started the fire. The female advised she had not been assaulted nor had the male, but did acknowledge that they have an argument and she had damaged the inside of the residence but denied starting the fire. Baytown Fire Department Arson Investigators were called to the scene to investigate the cause and origin of the fire. No charges filed at this time.
