BPD NEED HELP IDENTIFYING THIS SHOPLIFTER FROM WALMART

On May 31st at 11:43 a.m., officers were at the Wal-Mart located in the 4900 block of Garth investigating a separate case when they heard a bang outside the security office. Upon opening the door they noticed the complainant laying against the wall. Officers learned that the complainant, a store employee, had tried to stop a male who was suspected of shoplifting as he attempted to exit the store and as she attempted to do so the male suspect shoved the complainant down and exited the store. The officer, who could see the suspect walking in the parking lot, approached the suspect and advised him he was being detained. The suspect responded by running from the officer and getting into the driver seat of a red SUV. The officer approached the SUV and attempted to open the door to remove the suspect, however the suspect had locked the door and began attempting to flee. The officer then pulled his ASP baton and used it to shatter the driver side window in an attempt to gain control of the suspect and the vehicle. As the officer reached into the vehicle to attempt to extract the suspect, the suspect was able to place the vehicle in gear and flee through the parking lot with the officer holding on and running alongside the vehicle. The officer would eventually release his grip as the vehicle continued to flee through the parking lot and south on Garth Road.  It was later determined that the merchandise the suspect was attempting to steal was a camera and associated accessories, valued at approximately $100.00. The suspect was described as an Hispanic male, 5’8 and 175 pounds. He had a tear drop tattoo under his left eye and tattoos covering his neck. He was wearing a white shirt sleeve shirt over a red long sleeve undershirt, black jeans, a blue baseball cap and white tennis shoes.

So if you have information about the incident or know the whereabouts of the suspect, please call Baytown Crimestoppers at 281-427-TIPS or the Baytown Police Detective Division at 281-420-6646. You can remain anonymous.
