On August 15th at 10:24 a.m. officers responded to a disturbance with a weapon at a residence in the 300 block of Natchez in which the suspect, the estranged husband of the complainant, had left the scene in a Chevrolet Camaro. Officers spotted the vehicle and the suspect a short time later in the area of North Burnett and attempted to conduct a stop of the vehicle, however, the suspect fled from officers in the vehicle until it crashed into a fence in the 400 block of South Burnett. Upon crashing into the fence, the suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot and jumped into the canal and started swimming across the canal, ultimately making to the other side near the Nature Center, where he got out of the water and fled on foot, carrying his pants in his hands. The suspect is identified as 54-year-old Charles Puckett of Baytown and is currently wanted for Parole Violation/ Dangerous Drugs as well as a new charge of Felony Evading in a Motor Vehicle.
