Home Invasion Homicide Update

Over the past few days Baytown Homicide Detectives, along with members of our special operations Unit, K-9 Unit, and members of our Patrol Bureau have worked tirelessly to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for the senseless and tragic murder of 40-year-old margarita Villalon, a wife, and mother of 11.

Today I can announce that our Detectives have been able to identify and apprehend three of the individuals responsible for this senseless murder. Those individuals are identified as 17-year-old Josue Lopez, 17-year-old Kain Lopez, and a 16-year-old male, all of Baytown. Detectives also learned during their investigation that these same individuals were also responsible for a residential burglary earlier in the night, as well as another shooting that occurred a few hours after the murder, all in the same neighborhood.
Last night, Detectives presented their findings to the Harris County District Attorney’s OfficeSpecial Crimes Division at which time charges were accepted on all three of the suspects for their roles in the home invasion and subsequent murder of Margarita.

Josue Lopez is charged with Capital Murder, while Kain Lopez and the 16-year-old are charged with Aggravated Robbery. All three suspects are currently in custody. One additional adult, a 19year-old is currently being questioned by Detectives.

Since we began our investigation, we have had one mission, which is to bring Margarita’s killer to justice for the Villalon family. While we hope that these arrests bring a little comfort to them and help start their long road to healing, on behalf of the Villalon family they are asking for privacy during this time to allow them to grieve and heal together as a family.

Now Kain Lopez already has a prior criminal history. We recently covered a story in February of a robbery.
