Thomas and Bailey arrested and charged with 2 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver

On February 19th at 3:15 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado in the 6100 block of Interstate 10. During the stop, officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the truck. A subsequent search of the truck revealed approximately 36 grams of Ecstasy, 15 grams of Methamphetamine, 743 grams of Codeine, 9 grams of Prescription Pills, 13 grams of Marijuana and a handgun. Both occupants of the vehicle, 27-year-old Joshua Thomas and 23-year-old Karissa Bailey, both of Baytown were arrested and charged with 2 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver.

Ms. Arie actually had two outstanding warrants out of Harris County, one for Possession of a Controlled Substance and one for Driving While Intoxicated

On January  30^th at 4:00 p.m. officers responded to a theft in progress at the Goodwill store in the 3500 block of Garth Road. The caller reported that a female had entered the store and was suspected of stealing items. Upon arrival, officers contacted the female who provided a name and date of birth to the officers. Upon checking that name officer found an outstanding warrant out of Galveston County for Failure to Appear and thus arrested the female. However, once at the jail, the female was fingerprinted and it was found her true identity was not as she had stated, instead she was identified as 38-year-old Kandy Arie of Baytown. A computer check of that name revealed that Ms. Arie actually had two outstanding warrants out of Harris County, one for Possession of a Controlled Substance and one for Driving While Intoxicated. 

Muth charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance through the Harris County District Attorney’s Office

BAYTOWN - On January 28^th at 10:47 p.m., officers conducted a stop of a purple scooter traveling in the 500 block of Ruth Street. Officers identified the rider of the scooter as Walter Muth of Baytown. As the officer called out on the stop, he was advised by dispatch that the scooter was reported as stolen out of our agency on January 14^th.  Muth was placed under arrest and a subsequent search revealed him to be in possession of approximately 20 grams of methamphetamine. Muth was transported to the Baytown Jail where he was booked and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance through the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

BAYTOWN - On January 27^th at 9:10 p.m., an officer was patrolling in the 3000 block of North Alexander when he observed what he recognized as a hand to hand narcotics transaction take place between a male and a female in the parking lot of the Valero located at 3007 North Alexander. The officer made contact with the two subjects and identified them as 46-year-old Tony Cooper and 38-year-old Heather Galloway, both of Baytown. During the course of the investigation, officers found that both were in possession of methamphetamine and as such both were placed under arrest and transported to the Baytown Jail and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Carlos charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver through the Harris County District Attorney’s Office

 On January 25^th at 11:17 p.m., officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a vehicle in the area of West Main and Lee Drive. As officers attempted to conduct the stop, the suspect vehicle accelerated as if attempting to elude the officer, making several turns and even turning off its light at one point before stopping on the side of the road in the 800 block of West Cleveland, where officers contacted and detained the driver, identified as 21 year old Carlos Ibarra Recio of Baytown.  During a search of the Carlos officers located on his person, approximately 37 grams of marijuana, 8 grams of cocaine, 19 grams of Xanax and 12 grams of ecstasy. Carlos was transported to the Baytown Jail where he was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver through the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

Micah booked on the outstanding warrants, charged with class C theft for the printer cartridges and Possession of a Controlled Substance through the Harris County District Attorney’s Office

On January 26^th at 11:00 a.m., officers responded to a theft in progress at the Wal-Mart in the 4900 block of Garth Road. Upon arrival officers contacted  Wal-Mart Loss Prevention had a subject detained who was identified as 25 year old Micah Martinez of Baytown, after observing him take two printer cartridges of the shelf, conceal them and walk out of the store. Officers ran a computer check of Micah and learned he had multiple local warrants as well. Upon searching Micah, officers found a several small baggies which contained methamphetamine and several prescription pills inside a fanny pack Micah was wearing. Also located in the fanny pack was a digital scale and several more empty small baggies commonly used for packaging narcotics for sale. Micah was transported to the Baytown Jail where he was booked on the outstanding warrants, charged with class C theft for the printer cartridges and Possession of a Controlled Substance through the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting Incident at 3900 Yellowstone Boulevard

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested after he fired shots at Houston police officers at 3900 Yellowstone Boulevard about 3:15 a.m. on Thursday (Jan. 23).

The suspect, Gregory Calvin Gaines (b/m, 37), is charged with two counts of aggravated assault against a public servant and possession of a controlled substance in the 183rd State District Court.  A booking photo of Gaines is attached to this news release.

One HPD officer, R. Hansen, assigned to the Southeast Patrol Division, discharged his duty weapon.  He was sworn in as an officer in September 2011.

HPD Special Investigations Unit Sergeant R. Bass and Officers M. Millington, L. Lopez and S. Martinez reported:

Officers were on patrol when they observed a silver Buick LeSabre commit multiple traffic violations.  Officers initiated a traffic stop in the 3900 block of Yellowstone Blvd. and the vehicle turned south onto Sherwood Drive.  The back seat passenger, later identified as Gregory Gaines, leaped from the vehicle and was armed with a handgun.  Gaines fired multiple shots at the officers and struck their patrol vehicle.  Fearing for their lives, Officer Hansen discharged his duty weapon in the direction of Gaines, who quickly fled the scene on foot.  No one was struck or injured. 

The driver of the vehicle was detained without incident as responding officers canvassed the area for Gaines. 

A short distance from the scene, Gaines was located hiding under a vehicle.  He was taken into custody without further incident.  Gaines' gun was located within close proximity of where he was hiding.  He was found to be in possession of a controlled substance at the time of his arrest.
